hello i recently bought an iphone here in ireland.

when i recieve calls or text,

the persons details do not appear,

what am i doing wrong?

even people who are stored in my contacts btw.

I'm also having the same problem.  I have all my contacts stored in the phone but when someone calls or texts me it doesn't say their name only the number.  Another problem I have had is that it won't recieve picture messages.  When I go to download it says something like no grps connection or something like that.  I have T-mobile service with unlimited pic and text messaging.  Never had this problem when I had my nokia phone so I know I can recieve pics just not working on this phone.  Can someone please tell me what to do so I don't end up sending this phone back and getting another nokia.  Thanks BO

Are all 3 of you in Ireland? It seems to me like a service error or maybe some bug with firmware... that's a bit odd.

Hi ,

I had the same problem in belgium.
I've changed my numbers into the international numbers . for Belgium it was +32 or 0032.
for ireland i think it's 00353 or +353 and without the first zero of the regional code.

Example for belgium : 0496777777 becomes +32496777777 or 0032496777777

Same story Here, Ireland with vodafone.

It seems that if you have a person stored as 087XXX and you get a text it will not show up, as the text come as 0035387xxx. I changed the name of the person to 35387xxx and the name appeared.But if the person calls, the name will not show up as the call comes from 087xxx. Anybody any ideas?

I reside in Manila Philippines and my phone behaves exactly the same as those described here. It certainly is a disappointment not to know who texted or called. It's been a kind of guessing game. Will someone please help us resolve this problem?

By the way, I have the country codes and area codes ahead of the telephone numbers but still the same result.

hi yeah i have the same problem i live in the uk and changed the numbers in my phone from begining for example 078 to +4478 this helps with the texts come up with the persons name but not the phone calls!!

same problem here in the US.  No names to go with texts or calls, just numbers.  Very annoying.

same here in the US. i have tmobile. still cant set up the gprs and only the number shows up on incoming txts. . . no names, pleeeeeeeease help

I have TMobile here in the US and I had a similar problem not too long ago where I would only get the numbers and not the names of the people calling. The solution was pretty easy- you just have to look at how you have stored the numbers on your SIM card. My I68+ receives calls and recognizes them w/ a 1-###-###-#### patern, where the numbers on my SIM were usually saved w/o the "1" in front of them. Most phones today will automatically recognize this and add the "1" when dialing out, and can match the number when dialing in. The I68 does not and literally matches what is being dialed in with what numbers are stored in the phone/SIM. It is a pain, but add the "1" to your numbers and it should fix the problem.

I too have the same problem, I live in Texas usa and have At&t I've added
the +1 to my saved contacts and when they call me only some of those contacts show the name.  Could it be related
to the carrier of the contact?? my phone is the so called i9+++  don't know If is a clone of a clone how can I be sure
what I have? Also my phone beeps when I answer the call, very annoying......Please someone  HELP!!!!1

You should be able to get everything there there. As for the names to appear on your incoming texts. The phone numbers to the names in your phone book must be saved exactly as the way you received them. Some Cariers are not so exacting. In my Caribbean country, whether I leave out the +1 before the phone number or not, the name still shows up on my texts.
